GENRE: FUN-METAL
What felt like a wonderful early morning punch in the synapses of the metal scene in 2023 is returning in 2026: EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS are playing Reload Festival again – bringing the most anarchic kind of grind entertainment back to our stage.
While many bands maintain a serious habitus, EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS decided almost three decades ago to do exactly the opposite: grindcore, death metal, pop, synth bombast and grotesque nonsense are not a gag for them, but a method. A method that is carried out so consistently that you almost forget how good this band actually is at their craft.
Musically, they oscillate between the ironic theatricality that one would otherwise associate with Knorkator and the rabid growling of classic grind and death acts such as Napalm Death. But this comparison is always a little misleading – because their mix of styles is far too unique, the breaks are too deliberate, the resounding laughter that rings out between blast beats and pop choruses is too loud.
Live, this means chaos as a concept. The EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS’ shows are less concert than sensory overload theater – fast-paced, silly, musically astonishingly precise and crammed with meta-levels that hover somewhere between satire, genre deconstruction and unrestrained nonsense. Where other bands strive for a stringent atmosphere, the GRINDFUCKERS deliberately tear it down, only to put up a wall of metal in the next moment.
For all those who are not yet familiar with the band, it is worth looking beyond the boundaries of pure metal purism: here, the codes of the genre are lovingly dismantled – not out of disrespect, but out of deep understanding. And this is precisely the appeal that has accompanied them for over 20 years.
So in 2026, EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS return to the Reload – accompanied by the same questions as always: “Are they allowed to do that?” and “What the hell is happening here?” The answer, as usual, is yes. And everything.
