GENRE: NEW YORK HARDCORE
Some bands have a history. MADBALL are history. Since 1988—when 12-year-old Freddy Cricien stepped up to the microphone for the first time, a spot that was actually meant for his half-brother Roger Miret of Agnostic Front. What began as a side project became one of the most influential bands in New York hardcore of all time.
The sound is clear: metallic riffs, a groove that gets right into your bones, and Freddy’s voice, which hasn’t lost a bit of its rawness after nearly four decades. MADBALL didn’t just observe New York hardcore—they helped shape it. Alongside Agnostic Front and Sick of It All, they embody what defines this genre: no compromises, no expiration date. With new bassist Paul Delaney and their new album “Not Your Kingdom” (2026, Nuclear Blast), the band proves that, after more than 35 years, they still have something to say—and are still pushing forward.
MADBALL is no stranger to Reload—they were last here in 2024. If you haven’t seen them here yet, you must be new around here. In 2027, there will be no more excuses.
