GENRE: MEDIEVAL RAP

All bands

MITTEL ALTA bring “the finest spoken-word music from the Middle Ages”—for the rabble, of course. Two masked bastard bards who call themselves Sir Schwanzelot and Sir Gernhardt Reinlunzen, and a sound that really shouldn’t even exist: rap meets a medieval vibe, metal meets folk—and the whole thing is delivered with so much self-deprecating humor that by the first chorus, you realize no one here is trying to be “real.”

The idea is as simple as it is brilliant: Medieval metal has been around for years—but in rap, practically not at all. So they’re doing it. Lyrically, it gets completely absurd—in the best possible way. Characters, supporting roles, exaggerated imagery, alcohol-induced haze, wild nonsense: MITTEL ALTA aren’t telling a heroic saga; they’re building a universe out of nonsense and characters where you can still sing along even when your last brain cells have long since gone into delirium.

Add to that their DIY attitude: they build and produce a lot themselves, constantly releasing new singles instead of waiting a long time—simply because they feel like putting them out there. And that strikes a chord: around fifty thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, campground videos and all.

In 2027, they’ll take the stage at Reload for the first time. This isn’t a “discover later” kind of act. This is the act for everyone who likes rap, likes metal—and can laugh their heads off while doing it.
