GENRE: SYMPHONIC / MELODIC DEATHCORE

All bands

If any band proves that extreme metal can be both brutal and cinematic, it’s SHADOW OF INTENT. Reload 2027 is thus gaining an act that approaches deathcore as a complete sonic experience: orchestral power, the coldness of blackened and death metal, technical precision—and a voice that ties it all together.

And yes: That was actually supposed to happen in 2025. But it had to be canceled. So it’s all the better that it’s finally happening now.

The project began in 2013 in Connecticut as a Halo-inspired studio project by Ben Duerr and Chris Wiseman. The band’s name and early themes came directly from the game’s universe.

And then came the moment when it became clear: This is bigger than just a concept. SHADOW OF INTENT have expanded their universe—moving away from pure Halo lore toward darker, more universal themes like death, war, depression, and darkness. Their signature style remained, but their horizons broadened.

What makes them so special live is this balance: absolute intensity, but with structure. Riffs and blast beats drive the music forward, while melodies and symphonic layers add depth to the whole—like a second layer that’s always there.

To mark the tenth anniversary of “Reclaimer,” SHADOW OF INTENT is dedicating a set to this chapter that’s aimed right at that. If you know, you know. 😉

This is the slot machine you don’t just play on the side—it takes you on a ride.
