GENRE: METALCORE, POST-HARDCORE, ALTERNATIVE METAL
Reload 2027 features one of those names that instantly rings a bell for many: ATREYU. And yes—this is exactly the moment for the “elder emos” among us who learned back then that heaviness and melody don’t have to work against each other, but rather really come alive when combined.
ATREYU are from Yorba Linda, California, and have been active since 1998. They are among the bands that not only rode the wave of ’00s metalcore but also helped shape it—with that unmistakable contrast of intensity and big choruses. That’s exactly what makes them so recognizable to this day: a song feels like both full throttle and an open window at the same time. And within seconds, you know exactly who’s playing.
It’s a well-known fact that ATREYU haven’t stood still. They’ve continually shifted, rebalanced, and reimagined their sound—sometimes with more of a metalcore edge, sometimes with more melody, sometimes with more of a rock attitude. And yet, the core remains recognizable. On their latest album, “The End Is Not The End” (just released), this very balance is once again described as a strength: harder and more experimental, but with the melodic DNA that made ATREYU great. Kerrang! even speaks of a “second wind” and highlights how well the band sounds with Brandon Saller on lead vocals.
And now to the main event: Reload for the first time. If you’re only familiar with ATREYU from one era, this is your chance to experience the full range of their music live—the anthemic moments that grab you right away, and the heavy parts that keep you grounded. A show for everyone who remembers. And for everyone just getting into it right now.
